Roundtable on Diversity & Inclusion in the Wedding Industry
In light of recent actions surrounding race, justice and equality in our society, we wanted to take time and create space to have discussions about this issue within the wedding industry. We’ll have an opportunity to talk in small groups about the current state of our industry and how we can make it a more diverse and inclusive environment for everyone.
We will also be hearing from Lucretia Williams with Distinct Event Planning
Lucretia Williams is a happy wife to a great husband and mommy to her beautiful daughters. She’s a very proud graduate of The Ohio State University with a degree in Family Financial Management. Planning events while in college sparked her desire to become an event planner and open her own business. After graduating from college, she opened Distinct Event Planning. Operating a premier wedding and event planning business has been her dream from the moment she planned her first wedding. Now with 22 years of event planning experience behind her, she realizes her own “dream come true” with each incredible event. She and her team are passionate about delivering the ultimate guest experience from start to finish. She takes pride in perfecting stunning details, creating unforgettable visuals and making every moment feel effortless and stress-free. Her weddings and events have been featured by Essence, The B Collective, Munaluchi Bride, Black Bride Magazine, Columbus Weddings Magazine, Hostess with the Mostess, Black Bride & Groom Magazine, The Women’s Book Magazine, The Columbus Dispatch, 614 Magazine, Cbus Chic and The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business’ Leadership Initiative. She’s been featured on local TV shows and several podcasts. She has written five published articles and has been a speaker at several conferences including the National Association for Catering & Events, Association of Bridal Consultants Annual Conference, Creative at Heart, The Planners Suite, Creative Growth Summit and EmpoWEred Planners Conference.

Lucretia is also passionate about sharing her knowledge and growing the planning industry. In 2017, she founded the EmpoWEred Planners Society. Their mission is to provide a platform for event planners and creative professionals to come together and have real, honest conversations about the business and learn from industry pros while building impactful relationships. They’re taking the secrecy out of “trade secrets” and providing applicable tools for success. Their society hosts an annual conference and other professional development opportunities throughout the year. Lucretia is touring internationally as a speaker and educator. She loves developing professionals and welcome opportunities to speak at conferences, seminars and workshops.

Our August spotlight speaker is Pam Brannon of Best Beginnings with Pam Brannon.
