Creating Centers of Influence

This month's meeting was hosted by The Ballroom at Oakhurst where we were treated to a delicious meal.  Our speaker was Heather Waits with Bloomtastic Florist and Profitable Weddings (a company geared to helping wedding pros turn their passion into a profitable business).  Heather talked to us about how to build an army of people who promote you.

  • Referrals are the #1 way to grow your business.
  • Centers of influence are people that can bring business your way via sales or leads.
  • Centers of influence can be found at networking events (both for the wedding industry as well as general networking events for business).
  • Align yourself with professionals that attract brides at the same level or a step above where you are currently.
  • Three to five, quality, manageable centers of influence is a good a number to start with.
  • When creating centers of influence, invite him/her to lunch so you can learn about their business to refer your clients.  They will reciprocate by asking about your business so they can refer their clients to you.
  • Creating centers of influence doesn't happen overnight.  A relationship must be formed and can take a week, a month, or maybe a year.
  • Stay in touch! Send gifts is not required, but it's appreciated.
  • Be genuine & stay positive.
  • If at first you don't succeed, try, try again!
